About B

This is more than wanderlust. It’s wanderlove.

I’m Becca Goldman, but you can call me B. I was born in a little city called Spokane, Washington. State, not DC. I attended university at Washington State University, GO COUGS, and moved to Seattle upon graduation to work for a little company you may have heard of called Amazon.

I spent three years there trying to climb the ladder and maintain my sanity in a high-volume sales role. A year in, I knew that sitting in an office was not how I wanted to spend the rest of my life. After saving a bit of money and paying off some of my student loan debt, I quit my job at Amazon to travel for a few months. I had always valued travel, and I knew there was more of the world that I needed to see.

In April 2016, I spent three months exploring Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and the Philippines. After that, I returned to Seattle for a short stint before taking off again. This time to Israel and Cyprus. I returned again to Seattle in August to clean out my storage unit and return, though I vowed I never would, to my hometown.

I am spending 7 months in purgatory, saving money and preparing to move to Australia on a Working Holiday Visa (subclass 462) in March 2017. The goal is to work and travel for a couple of years in Australia and New Zealand, seeing more of Oceania and Asia along the way.

My main goal in life is to live differently. I believe that the story line that society tells us to follow is massively outdated, and it’s time to change up the plot. At any point in your life, you can choose to make a change if you believe it will make your life better. I know, because I did it. I am here to tell you that now is the time. Whatever it is you have been waiting to do, go and do it.

I started B Travels Better to share my knowledge, ideas and experiences with other wanderlovers around the world and to encourage people to live differently. This site is a compilation of advice, research, stories, and random musings. We (the site and I) are in the early stages of our relationship, so we are still feeling each other out. Join us on our adventures, but be forewarned, it may be a bumpy ride.
