Day 14 | Indonesia Photos – Bali & The Gilis

The part of the trip that Chris had been looking forward to most, and the real reason he went on this trip with me, was Bali. I was excited too, but going to Bali meant he was leaving me soon, so that put a damper on things for me. Bali was incredible, the food was fresh, the people friendly and the beaches…filled with trash. We were able to find a few getaways that hadn’t been completely destroyed by tourism, but it was few and far between. When we headed off to the Gili’s, we were finally able to find beaches we could sit on and not be completely overwhelmed by the amount of garbage, but it was still pretty upsetting to see. However, Indo wasn’t a complete fail. We met some amazing people, drank our weight in coconut water and Bintang and did some diving. I even saw my first sea turtle here! Don’t let the trash scare you away. Bali really is amazing, we just all need to do our part to clean up the island instead of adding to the problem.

I don’t like monkeys…

Not kidding. I really don’t like them. I was trapped on this bridge as a pack of them approached me.

I would not get any closer.

Chris, though, became one with them. Even sharing food.
